There are misconceptions about writing, we can change our ideas about writing by changing our learning technique,methods and our ideas about writing.we can do this by teaching students about new writing methods. But befor you can do that you must understand writing befor you can teach someone else about writing if you. Don't even know how to write yourself.some misconceptions are that some people think that worrying is universal but it's not,they also think that it is all about grammar or that they have to make there writing skills better but according to downs and wardle there are no skills that people have and that every one has a different writing style and no one has the same writing style.it's like saying that someone who teaches English can't teach math because it isn't what they are used to teaching.
